Heinrich Hirdes – Hydraulic construction since 1912

The engineer Heinrich Hirdes founded the construction company "Heinrich Hirdes" in 1912 in Duisburg at the age of 27. From the start, Heinrich Hirdes and his employees worked with great discipline, engineering performance, integrity, loyalty and to the fullest satisfaction of the customers.

With boldness, willpower, ingenuity and flair, the engineer Heinrich Hirdes led the company for forty years. He offered a broad range of engineering services in the areas of municipal drainage, water supply, ground and earthing works, industrial buildings and blasting work. The company soon developed into a renowned hydraulic construction company in Duisburg.

An overview of our history

  • 1912 Heinrich Hirdes founded the company in Duisburg.
  • 1947 the individual company Heinrich Hirdes converted into a GmbH.
  • In the period from 1960 to 1980, branch offices were established in Berlin, Bremen, Duisburg, Hamburg, Karlsruhe and Kiel.
  • 1978 the ordnance clearance division was established.
  • Since 1991Heinrich Hirdes GmbH has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. We are continuing the traditions of the engineer Heinrich Hirdes. With highly motivated employees and modern technology, we take on the tasks and challenges of the future in hydraulic construction, coastal protection, ordnance clearance onshore / offshore and those we are not yet aware of – now with the strong support of a global, highly specialised sister company.
  • 2012 we divided the ordnance clearance division into the Ordnance Clearance Onshore and EOD Services Offshore.
